Impact/Community

The health of nonprofit organizations in the city is enhanced when a talented corporate workforce serves the nonprofit community on a regular basis. Corporate representation in volunteer groups, on local boards, and on steering committees has a meaningful, long-term, social and economic influence on the city. In any given week, because of ServiceCorps volunteers:

  • 2,000 meals are served,
  • 250 children receive educational support through one of many tutoring programs,
  • 100 adults receive ESL or literacy instruction,
  • 30 organizations receive counsel from senior management through board service.

Across 2007 ServiceCorps will explore how to direct staff engagement and maximize the effect on the community including:

  • More thoughtful nonprofit partnerships,
  • Increased attention given to community needs assessments,
  • Focus on skills-based volunteering.
